Postcard: Raja Ampat 2023

Our Raja Ampat Odyssey took us on an enchanting exploration of Indonesia's crown jewel, nestled in the heart of the Coral Triangle. We delved into the vibrant culture of remote villages, marveled at the craftsmanship of local boat builders and witnessed villagers returning from their hillside farms laden with bounties of cassava and bananas. At dawn, we ascended into the forest to witness the magnificent courtship display of the red bird of paradise. From the comfort of our private yacht, a traditional Indonesian phinisi, we cruised among the scattered islands, discovering hidden lagoons and marveling at the limestone karst formations.

Submerging into the depths, we were greeted by a kaleidoscope of marine life. Spectacular coral reefs teemed with colorful fish, graceful sea turtles, and elusive reef sharks. One unforgettable morning, we swam with pod of bottlenose dolphins, their playful antics leaving us spellbound. We drifted through narrow channels adorned with gorgonian fans reaching for the surface, and we were mesmerized by the majestic mantas gracefully gliding through cleaning stations, their wings spanning nearly five meters across.

Our journey through Raja Ampat was a symphony of sights and sensations, filled with truly unforgettable moments. Join us for the ultimate Indonesian odyssey as we discover Alor and cruise through the Forgotten Islands, Banda and Raja Ampat in October 2026.

This was our first trip with Wild Earth Expeditions, and it exceeded all our expectations!  Diving in Raja Ampat had been on our bucket list for many years and was a dream come true. Thomas and Sabine managed to enhance an already spectacular experience. Their attention to detail was a 10 out of 10 on every aspect of the trip.  Our time at Papua Explorer Resort was very special.  Our 8 days onboard the SY Coralia took the whole experience to another level…. It was FANTASTIC!
Our adventure was enhanced by the very special group of fellow divers.
Looking forward to our next trip with Wild Earth Expeditions.
